VISA Power Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat on 12th January 2007. The company plans to set up a 1000 MW imported coal based thermal power plant in the location already identified near Pipavav port.

Key Features

 Total installed capacity of 1,000 MW.

 Estimated project cost of Rs. 4,200 crore.

 Project to be developed at Bherai village in Amreli district, Gujarat.

 Project to be spread over 1,000 acres with scope for further expansion.

 Project comprises 4 x 250/300 MW units, the fi rst unit to be commissioned by Q1 2012.

 MoU signed with the Government of Gujarat on January 12, 2007.

 Power shall be supplied to industrial consumers in Gujarat and other power-defi cit states in the Northern and Western Regions Advantages

 Proximity to Pipavav port (7 km), allowing the direct supply of coal from the vessel through conveyors to the stockpile, resulting in low handling and transportation costs.

 Annual coal requirement of nearly 3.0 – 3.5 million tonnes to be imported from Indonesia, South Africa and Australia.

 Pipavav Port with a deep draft of over 13.7 metres allowing low cost sea transportation in gearless Panamax vessels.

 Adjacent to the National Highway and Rajula-Pipavav Railway Network.

 Total water requirement to be sourced from the sea near Pipavav.
