VISA Power Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Orissa on 26th September 2006 for the establishment of a Mega Power Plant in the state. The project is planned to be developed across a stretch of 1100 acres of land near Cuttack with a scope for future expansion. The power generated shall be supplied to the sister concern – VISA Steel based at Orissa and also to the state Government, balance being sold to power deficit states. |

Project to be developed at Brahmanabasta in Cuttack district, Orissa.

Project comprises 4 x 250/300 MW units, with fi rst unit to be commissioned by Q1 2012.
Annual coal requirement of nearly 6.2 million tonnes to be sourced through coal linkage from Mahanadi Coalfi elds located in Talcher,
only 95 km away from the project site, till production commences through the captive coal block. Proximity to Paradip port (100 km),
allowing cost-effective use of imported coal as a back-up, and improved operational effi ciency.
Total water requirement to be sourced from River Mahanadi.
Nearest railway station only 4 km away with a captive railway siding to be developed for the direct supply of coal to the stockpile
without multiple handling.
Good accessibility to project site through the national highway less than 1 km away.
Proximity to the State Electricity Grid and the National Grid of PGCIL for evacuation of power.
20 km from Cuttack and 45 km from Bhubaneswar.
